AI at the KHI - Level 2: From Research Ideas to Practice — A Hands-on Workshop
23 October 2026
10:00am-12:00pm
Palazzo Grifoni & online
The DH Lab is pleased to invite you to the second session of AI at the KHI, a new institute-wide two-level course designed to provide practical guidance, shared principles, and a common basis for working with AI at the KHI.
From Research Ideas to Practice — A Hands-on Workshop
- 23 October 2026, 10:00-12:00
Conference Room, Palazzo Grifoni - Please note: While online participation is possible, we strongly advise attending in person to get the most out of this hands-on workshop (Zoom link will be shared in due time).
In our first course, we explored the possibilities of generative AI for research and discussed how to use it critically and responsibly. This second session is more practical: less listening, more doing.
How can AI help us explore collections, analyse images and documents, connect sources, or develop new approaches to research? We will experiment with tools that support everyday research tasks and even allow us to build simple applications without programming experience, while critically examining their possibilities and limitations.
In this hands-on session, we will use Chat-AI and other tools with examples from the KHI. We will also discuss how promising ideas can develop into reliable research tools with support from the DH Lab.
Bring your questions, research challenges, and ideas. No programming experience is needed.
Please bring your laptop and log in beforehand at https://chat-ai.academiccloud.de/ using your institute account. For login problems, contact dh@khi.fi.it.
The course is intended for colleagues across the Institute, independently of previous experience with AI. We hope it will also provide a space to discuss questions and use cases arising in different areas of the KHI and to develop a shared approach to the responsible use of AI.
