DH Lab Updates

Over the past few months, the DH Lab has made significant progress across multiple areas, spanning research, collaboration, infrastructure, and community engagement. Here is an overview of our latest developments:

  • Projects

  • MICHELANGELO: Materialità della carta, medialità dei disegni, archeologia dei fogli

    We completed and presented the first version of this project, currently available internally, developed in collaboration with Mauro Mussolin. It explores the material and medial aspects of Michelangelo's drawings, offering new insights into the archaeology of paper.

  • Futurismus Website Relaunch

    In collaboration with the Library team, we extracted the underlying data and relaunched the Futurismus website. The platform is now live, with plans for ongoing expansion, including more archival content and enhanced features.

  • L'Aquila 1703

    Lost, Demolished, RebuiltIn collaboration with Chiara Capulli, we launched the first version of this project, which examines the urban transformation of L’Aquila following the devastating 1703 earthquake. The project merges archival research with spatial and historical analysis.

  • Florentine Arabic // العربية الفلورنسية

    Together with Alex Dika Seggerman and the Photo Library, we initiated a new research direction on Islamic Art in Italy. This project explores Islamic visual culture through the historical card catalogues of the Fototeca, focusing on its presence in Florentine collections.

  • Infrastructure & Collaborations

  • Pharos

    Our long-standing collaboration with Pharos continues. We are actively working on several levels—technical and managerial—and are currently seeking new funding opportunities.

  • DH Website Launch

    We launched our new website to better present the lab's work, including projects, blog posts, and digital resources. The platform aims to foster transparency, outreach, and interdisciplinary collaboration.

  • Community & Events

The events are regularly announced on our website—follow us there to stay updated!

  • DH Day Series

    Our DH Day events continue to attract strong engagement. These sessions provide an open forum for discussion, idea-sharing, and support around topics in digital humanities.

  • AI & Creativity Reading Group

    This reading group remains a lively interdisciplinary space focused on artificial intelligence, creativity, and society. It brings together scholars from diverse fields to examine key issues at the intersection of technology and the humanities.
